Scribble Picnic (Quinton's Walnut Boat)

Quinton loved his little walnut boat. One day, he'll set sail out on the ocean blue, seeking out adventures and new friends. Until then, playing at Platypus Lake will do just fine.

Boat is Scribble Picnic's theme this week and perfect for my little hedgehog in the making. Uh huh. I don't know about you, but I do enjoy being challenged in my artwork as it helps one learn and grow along the way. (Well, I don't always enjoy it but it's good for the creative soul. Ha!)

Right now, I'm teaching myself to understand how to illustrate greens better (like above with the trees and grass), making sure I'm creating depth along the way. It may sound pretty easy but let me tell you, it takes some work and a lot of squinting the eyes!

Sunday Sketches (& Giveaway WINNER)

Cats. I love cats. However, I'm extremely allergic to them. I remember playing with them at a friend's house for hours when I was little. For months, I'd leave with swollen eyes and having terrible issues breathing. Finally, after carefully reviewing my activities, the doctors discovered it was the cats. I cried for days when told I could no longer play with the kittens. Awww

Anyway, I don't draw cats often so thought it would be fun to illustrate one this week, incorporating my love for potted plans with it. He turned out quite cute, I must say. What do you think? Do you have cats? Any favorites?

Before venturing off to visit everyone, as promised, I'd like to announce the Sunday Sketches 7-year anniversary winner. After entering everyone's name into the online name generator, the lucky individual is Lisa Isabella Russo!  CONGRATULATIONS, Lisa. Please email me your shipping address so I can send off your fabulous parcel of goodies!
